Luc lollop

As it looks like it could be a stay-at-home rainy day tomorrow (no complaints – the rivers still need a lot more rain, as the storms so far have, thankfully, soaked into the parched earth), I decided to go a little further today: the 30-mile round trip to Luc-en-Diois, via Pont de Quart, St Roman, Menglon and Luzerand to Luc, and then the D93 via Montlaur and Recoubeau for the return (with a stonking tailwind today!).

Those who know all these places will realise I forgot to take a photo in Recoubeau today. Sorry!

By the way, sorry too if sometimes Blogger decides to display the photos in reverse order... it seems to have a mind of its own, but today it's got it right!

St Etienne-en-Quint

After last night's storm (which dropped about 30mm of rain on Romeyer in three hours or so), the air this morning was clear and relatively cool, so I pootled up the Quint Valley to St Etienne to see some friends' house under construction (with the most marvellous views of the valley), and back over the col de Marignac. It reminded me why the purchase of the Moustache e-bike was such a good one, as the ascent to the col was easy... though weirdly, I'm looking forward to the day when the heart rehabilitation means I can go back to huffing and puffing up it!

Pontaix

As 'interesting weather' was forecast for this  later today and this evening, I decided to trundle down to Pontaix to see if I could get some good, different drone shots (I was thinking of stills from quite high above the old chateau but taking in the panoramas too). Thanks to the comprehensive 'drone map', I know exactly where it's completely legal here (having also registered my drone on the government website).

In the end, I didn't use it at all, firstly as there were several people up near the chateau, and I didn't want to disturb their enjoyment, and secondly, as the wind was picking up, and my tiny drone doesn't appreciate strong and gusty winds.

So you'll have to make so with some stills. It's still an impressive viewpoint, even from the elevated ground level!!

Col de Rousset

As everything went well at the Crest concert, we were given Saturday morning off, so I suggested that the three of us went to Col de Rousset, make use of the chairlift to get up to the viewpoint, and we extended the effort a but by walking up a bit further to But Sapiau, from where I can see the roof of my house. And impromptu sandwich lunch featuring bread, salad and lots of cheese (of course) was very much enjoyed, as were all the insects that Will seems to have an encyclopaedic knowledge of!

It's really an absolutely stunning little walk, the rewards far outweighing the minimal effort!!
